Known for its Web3 domain and digital identity services, Unstoppable Domains has been officially accredited by ICANN, expanding its non-Web3 domain offerings to include a wider range of top-level domains.
This accreditation allows the company to offer traditional domain extensions, such as generic top-level domains (gTLDs) and country code domains (ccTLDs), while integrating blockchain functionality into these domains.
The move is expected to bridge the gap between traditional Internet infrastructure and Web3's decentralized innovations.
💬"ICANN accreditation is an important milestone for our Unstoppable community" – said Matt Gould, CEO and founder of Unstoppable Domains (UD), during the announcement.
💬"We are excited to continue to expand the reach of accreditation and traditional web infrastructure while maintaining our core principle of user responsibility."
In addition to expanding its domain portfolio, Unstoppable Domains said it will introduce new services, including an online domain marketplace and tokenized domain management tools. The company said it is already supported by 19 leading Web3 companies, including Blockchain.com, in preparing future gTLD applications to ICANN.
📝"The ultimate goal of domain chaining is to allow consumers, brands and businesses to have the best of both worlds and fully leverage the power of Web3 in the traditional web space" – UD said in a statement.
⚠️ One more focus in favor of turning the idea of a decentralized web3 into the U.S. intelligence community-regulated DNS prison called ICANN that web3 ideologues originally wanted to get rid of.
Many countries, including Russia, consider the existence of a supposedly independent service, actually created and regulated by the US intelligence services, which can shut down the internet in any country at any time, by shutting down the redirection of domain names to specific IP addresses, to be a serious risk.
❗️ For reference, ICANN is the "Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers", an international non-profit organization (NGO) established on 18 September 1998 with the participation of the US government to regulate issues related to domain names, IP addresses and other aspects of the Internet.
In other words, when you write on the Internet, for example www.yandex.ru, ICANN regulates the redirection of that domain name to the IP address of its server 5.255.255.77which helps your computer find the website you need.
But at any moment ICANN (read CIA) can redirect you to the Los Angeles Gay🟥Parade page or to the outside site of the Church of "Satan" 👹 in San Francisco.
Originally, web3 was created as a complete alternative to the DNS and IP management system regulated by the intelligence agencies. Finally, it all gradually turned into the usual stinking power of American democracy with surveillance and sanctions with the CIA and FBI seal 🗽
