Many crypto skeptics argue that most of the existing projects will not stand the test of time. And it is true that many of them have not existed for a long time. In the grand scheme of things, even Bitcoin is a baby.
With that said, we jumped at the chance to talk to none other than ChatGPT itself, the AI language model that has taken the world by storm over the past few months.
We decided to ask which five cryptocurrencies will survive the next decade. The answer is somewhat interesting.
Bitcoin is no surprise
For anyone who follows the cryptocurrency industry, it should come as no surprise that Bitcoin took the top spot. ChatGPT claims to be the first and most famous cryptocurrency.
Bitcoin has established itself as a store of value and medium of exchange. It has a significant network effect, wide distribution and strong brand recognition.
It is interesting to note that there is a huge debate in the community about whether BTC serves as a good medium of exchange or even a better store of value. Both sides of this seem pretty polarized, and it's a topic that's been debated for a long time. ChatGPT seems to think it is both. This is cool.
At this stage it is worth noting that the answer also includes a disclaimer:
I can't predict the future with certainty, especially when it comes to the volatile cryptocurrency market.
He also clarified that the cutoff to his knowledge was in September 2021. Here's what the top 10 (by market cap) looked like then:

Number two and three are also expected
ChatGPT claims that ETH and BNB will also stand the test of time. Commenting on Ethereum, he explained:
Ethereum's robust ecosystem and continued development make it a prominent player in the cryptocurrency space.
It is interesting to note that the Ethereum merger did not take place during ChatGPT's knowledge blackout on this topic.
In third place was BNB, the native cryptocurrency of the Binance exchange. AI explained:
Binance's strong market position and innovative offerings add to BNB's potential longevity.
Cardano also made the cut
According to ChatGPT, ADA has a unique approach and a growing community, making it a cryptocurrency to watch.
Now, for those of you who have been following the industry for a while, this probably isn't much of a surprise as Cardano has been among the leaders for quite some time.
Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano, is also one of the founders of Ethereum.
But here's where things get a little interesting and, frankly, surprising.
Tether or Ripple? ChatGPT thinks neither
Tether's USDT and Ripple's XRP are some of the veteran cryptocurrencies that almost always make the top 10. Both are backed by large companies with significant funding and lots of talent.
However, ChatGPT believes that Polkadot (DOT) is the fifth cryptocurrency in our question that will make a breakthrough and survive the next decade.
It claims that:
Polakdot's interoperability features and growing ecosystem position it as a potential long-term player in the cryptocurrency industry.
Now, does the above mean other cryptocurrencies will crash? Probably not. Of course, none of this should be construed as financial advice. The content is for educational and entertainment purposes only and you should always do your own research and consult a professional regarding the matter. However, it is quite interesting to reach into the digital brains of an AI language model that seems to have a different answer than many would think.
