How many bitcoins should you own?

The question of how many bitcoins you should own is an eternal question. Each person is different and therefore the amount may differ for each person as well. While the ultimate goal for most people is to someday reach that magical stage of owning a full bitcoin. We have to face the fact that bitcoin is almost priced at fifty thousand dollars and this dream has become unattainable for many. The world and the people who rule the world are quickly grabbing bitcoins and adoption has begun to accelerate at a tremendous rate. Bitcoin will not always be readily available for purchase as it is today. This market is like a game of musical chairs. Right now the music is playing and everyone is quietly circling the chairs. But soon the music will stop and the panic to sit in a chair will begin. To be able to sit on a chair is to have bitcoin. Do you have enough?

I want to echo that last thought because it's something that most people don't really consider. The world is a buy-on-demand type of society. On the internet you can find anything you would want to buy. Maybe that new iPhone or other item you want to buy is not in stock right now, but you can still buy it and it will be delivered later. Nothing is ever truly "out of stock". Bitcoin is different. Yes, you can easily purchase bitcoins on exchanges now, but the real game is happening behind the scenes. Bitcoin redemption on exchanges is picking up at an extraordinary pace. All this is leading to a drastic reduction in the amount of bitcoins held on exchanges. People aren't concerned or excited about this because they don't see any difference or effect on the price of bitcoins. But, that's exactly why these people are making over-the-counter trades. They want to avoid the price increase. Instead, they want to buy bitcoins as cheaply as possible. But that can't last forever. There is a hard limit of 21 million bitcoins. Of those 21 million, it is generally accepted that 4-6 million of those coins are lost forever. That leaves only about 15-17 bitcoins. Then with each cycle, new bitcoins are minting the halves. This will only cause demand to increase while the supply to buy decreases. This was all before the bitcoin use case became mainstream. Before the dollar inflation madness started, before Covid. Now businesses, hedge funds, normal people and even countries are waking up to bitcoins. You can quickly see that there aren't enough bitcoins to go around.

But let's say we split the bitcoins evenly and gave an equal amount to every person on Earth. Using the total bitcoin supply of 21 million, each person could own approximately 0.0028 BTC. Or 280,000 satoshis. Currently, this amount can be purchased for about $130. Now remember I just mentioned that approximately 4-6 million bitcoins are lost forever. This makes the amount available to each person drop even further. Think of it this way. There are approximately 56 million people in the world who are millionaires. If they all decided they wanted to purchase full bitcoins, it would be impossible since the supply of bitcoins is not available. There will be millionaires who cannot own a full bitcoin. There will be millionaires who have a very small portfolio of bitcoins.

So let's go back to my main question. How many bitcoins should each person aspire to own? I firmly believe that although this is a high goal, everyone should strive to own a full bitcoin. Keep dollar cost averaging, buy with every paycheck, borrow btc to earn even higher returns, and take advantage of price drops to reach your goal quickly. We all need to dream big.

But you need to set smaller and easier-to-achieve goals along the way. Setting easier goals along with your end goal is the best way to stay motivated. After all, that ultimate goal of owning 1 full bitcoin may seem impossible and that can lead to a loss of motivation. But by setting smaller goals and achieving them; this is the way to stay motivated.

The first target I would recommend is 0.0028 BTC. This is the evenly distributed amount for every person on earth. You should aim to get your share first. It only costs $130 today and is very achievable. Though it's unlikely you expect that amount of bitcoins will ever make you rich. It may someday become a nice cornerstone of your savings or retirement funds. Once you reach that first stage, that's where the fun begins. I call it the bitcoin buffet. When you go to a buffet restaurant, there is a lot of food available for a large amount of people. It's first come, first served. If I see a delicious piece of ham or steak and rush to grab it, that's something the next person can't have. So every time you accumulate bitcoins over that first order, it takes another person"

The situation is much more extreme than most people even imagine. Yes, the equal share for each person who owns a bitcoin is 0.0028 BTC, but then you have to factor in the lost bitcoins as well as the bitcoin whales. For example, Microstrategy and the Winklevoss twins own more than 100,000 bitcoins each. There are several other whales, companies, hedge funds and people who own multiple bitcoins, hundreds of bitcoins, thousands of bitcoins and sometimes hundreds of thousands of bitcoins. You can quickly see that most people will never be able to accumulate 0.0028 bitcoins.

I'm a big fan of setting short term goals for accumulating bitcoins and these are goals I've set and achieved and I highly recommend you do something similar.

    OBJECTIVES

    1) 0.0028 BTC 2) 0.01 BTC  3) 0.05 BTC   4) 0.10 BTC  5) 0.25 BTC

    6) 0.50 BTC. 7) 0.75 BTC   8) 1 BTC. 9) 1.25 BTC. 10) 1,50 BTC

    11) 1.75 BTC  12) 2 BTC   13 2.5 BTC. 14) 3 BTC. 15) 5 BTC + Continued.

If you've been paying attention to the world, it's pretty obvious that things are moving towards bitcoin. The only real question is whether you're doing everything you can to accumulate as much as you can before that happens. People are going to be very surprised when the change in hyperbitcoinization occurs. You still have a great chance to build a portfolio that will bring you life-changing gains; don't miss it.

What about you? Do you read about hyperbitcoinization? How far along are you in your bitcoin hoarding journey?
